About Ms. Wippel

Educational Background

I grew up in Lansing, Michigan, where I attended both private and public schools. For my primary education, I went to St. Gerard Catholic School, which is also where my mother went as a child. Then, I became a warrior at Waverly High School where I graduated 8th in my class of 251. In addition to maintaining a 3.98 GPA, I was part of the softball and basketball teams for 4 years and the secretary of our National Honor Society.

For my formal education training, I attended Grand Valley State University, which is located in Grand Rapids, MI.  I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree.  My major was mathematics and my minor was English; both had an emphasis on secondary education. I was a member of both the mathematics and English honor societies and received a Senior Award from the mathematics department, which is given to only 10 outstanding graduating math majors.

Professional Background

I currently hold teaching certificates in both Michigan and Florida, which allow me to teach math and English for grades 6-12. I did my student teaching at Comstock Park High School near Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I had the opportunity to teach English, math, and even coach some softball.  For the first five years of my career, I taught at Harmony High School in Harmony, FL, which is located southeast of Orlando.  I was also the head JV softball coach and assistant girls basketball coach there.

. ..  ..The courses I’ve taught over the years include Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebra II Honors, Geometry, Geometry Honors, Pre-Calculus, 10th Grade English, and ed2020.  The 2016-2017 school year will be my fifth year at Haslett High School, and my tenth year teaching overall.   I will be teaching Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus (PDM) this year and I am looking forward to having a successful year as a Haslett Viking!

Family I am very blessed to have a wonderful, supportive family.  Here I am pictured with my parents and my younger sister. I also have an older half-brother and half-sister who have given me four nieces and nephews.  I love my family very much and feel fortunate to have such positive role-models in my life.  I moved back to Michigan from Florida so I could spend more time with all of them!
